First Visit

What to Expect

Boy BrushingOur office, as well as the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recommends establishing a "Dental Home" for your child by one year of age.

For infants and very young children the first dental visit will usually consist of an examination by Dr. Eaton and a discussion of your child’s dental development, cavity risk, and oral hygiene. Around the age of three, depending on your child’s needs and temperament, we will usually introduce a professional dental polishing, fluoride treatment, and dental x-rays in addition to Dr. Eaton’s examination.

Parents can help make a child’s first visit to the dentist enjoyable and fun. If they’re old enough, your child should be informed of the visit and told that Dr. Eaton and his fun-loving team will explain everything that will happen during the visit and answer any questions that your child might have.

We invite you to stay with your child during the first visit, as we’ll have so many things to discuss and learn. You are welcome to accompany your child at all times during any visit with us.
